Albany-based punk band The Blisterz has some very eclectic taste when it comes to music.  No surprise, Aerosmith is a band they really enjoy rocking out to, so frontman Dave decided to countdown the five Aerosmith songs that he loves the most.

Having gotten to get to know Dave Graham of The Blisterz over the years, I have learned that he loves music.  His band may play catchy punk rock tunes, but make no mistake, his library goes much deeper than that.  I have even seen them cover Lady Gaga from time to time.

So it shouldn't surprise anyone that Dave is also a big fan of Aerosmith, who are coming to Albany June 29th at the Times Union Center.  I asked Dave if he wouldn't mind giving me his five favorite Aerosmith songs, and he was more than willing.  He told me that with how long the band has been around, it was hard to choose just five, but like the rock 'n roll warrior he is, Dave persevered and got it done.  Here is what he had to say.

5. What it Takes (Pump)

I know, it's a ballad. Sorry! It's just such well written song with stellar lyrics. "Girl, before I met you I was F.I.N.E." Go look up that acronym!

4) TIE Cryin'/Crazy (Get A Grip)

Both of these were amazing songs made even better by two of the best videos Aerosmith (or any band, for that matter) ever made. They were like mini-movies starring Alicia Silverstone (and Liv Tyler in 'Crazy'). No one makes videos like these anymore!

3. Sweet Emotion (Toys In The Attic)

I could have picked several cuts off this album. I really dig the opening bass line and then Joe Perry comes in with some 'sweet' talk box guitar. Very catchy and memorable lyrics on this one too..."I pulled in to town in a police car, your daddy said I took it just a little too far".

2. Mama Kin (Aerosmith)

I love how it opens with just the bad ass rhythm guitar, then some cool sax kicks in. Guns 'N Roses did a great cover of this song (which on a side note...one of my first concerts was GnR opening for Aerosmith @ SPAC).

1. Walk This Way (Toys In The Attic)

One of the best guitar riffs in rock 'n' roll...ever...EVER! Plus years later it also made for an awesome cross-over hit with hip-hop legends RUN-DMC.

Make sure to keep up with Dave and The Blisterz on Facebook, and catch one of their gigs happening in the Albany area, including Friday night June 8th at Savannah's.
