Happy birthday, dear Thacher Park – Happy birthday to you! It seems like only yesterday Thatcher Park was learning to ride its first bike and look at it now. It’s celebrating its centennial on Saturday.

I don’t know many things that make it to their 100th birthday. I had a hamster that made it pretty close but called it quits after around 8 weeks. But after reading an article I saw by the Times Union, I’ve learned that I can stay right here in the Capital Region and celebrate 100 years of John Boyd Thacher Park and all 2,400 acres of land. I once saw a tortoise at the San Diego Zoo that was said to be around 100 years old, so I hope seeing this park will be at least as exciting as that tortoise was.

A few months back, I took a trip to Thatcher Park and explored it with my big brain and camera. If you are unfamiliar with the park, you are in luck. In the video below, I tell you everything you need to know about the history and the landscape of the entire park. The facts may not be true, but they are certainly real facts I just made up. Enjoy.
