As far as physical professions go, being a musician is usually one of the most injury free occupations you could choose. Still, there are the occasional accidents that happen on the road and Shinedown bassist Eric Bass is feeling the effects of a performance mishap last night (March 22) in Lubbock, Texas.

Wes Styles sat down with Brent Smith of Shinedown in our makeshift studio at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Saturday, February 23rd before they hit the stage that night. The conversation covered a wide arrange of items from the current tour with Three Days Grace & POD, how their stage show changes every tour, and even a reflection or two of the last decade of the band.

You wouldn't know it by looking at him today, but there was a period not too long ago that Shinedown singer Brent Smith was struggling with both drug and alcohol addiction, as well as weight issues. Part of the reason Smith is built as well as he is these days is due to his newfound commitment to his health, and he discussed his transformation with the Los Angeles Times.

Just a few weeks ago, Shinedown and Three Days Grace announced the first leg of a co-headlining U.S. tour that kicks off in February 2013. Now, the two bands have added a second leg of dates to the trek.

I had the great pleasure of talking on the phone with Brent Smith of Shinedown on November 20th as the band takes a much deserved break for the holidays. We talk about the up coming tour in 2013 with Three Days Grace & POD, spending the holiday with family, the new video for "I Will Follow", along with looking back at the 10 years since their debut album.

There's no doubt that Shinedown's Brent Smith is a prolific writer, but it appears as though he and his hard-working band have gotten ahead of the game for their next album. Despite releasing 'Amaryllis' earlier this year, Smith reveals to NME that the band has already recorded a new album.

Shinedown, the headliners of Q-Ruption 2012, have wrapped up their performance at Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
