Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian is a horror film fanatic and his love of the genre along with his celebrity status has resulted in several cool opportunities in recent years. Earlier today, we reported that Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian missed last night’s show in Kansas City, Mo., due to an unspecified illness. Now, the band has released a statement explaining that Ian is battling a severe viral infection that caused him to be hospitalized in Los Angeles. In addition, the band also has announced that drummer Charlie Benante has left the tour to be at the bedside of his terminally ill mother in New York.
After about 90 minutes or performing on stage, Anthrax's lead singer Joey Belladonna was mistakenly tackled by security on stage. The band broke into 'Metal Thrashing Mad' which triggered mayhem, followed by a over excited fan who jumped on stage and ran up to Belladonna who was then trying to help security only to be slammed by a rather large bouncer.

Ian even talks about how this tour starts almost 24 years to the day that they began their European tour for Among the Living, with Testament as their opener.
