The South Region was the busiest segment of the NCAA tournament field on Sunday, with three games determining which teams advanced to Arlington, Tex. on Friday. Michigan had already advanced to the round of 16 on Saturday.
Syracuse and Marquette advanced to the round of 16 in the East Regional on Saturday. Four more schools played Sunday to determine which two teams would join them in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.
With the No. 1, 3, 4, 5, and 7 seeds having already lost, the West Region is wide open. Arizona and Wichita State have already advanced to the round of 16.
There were two games in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday. One featured two teams who will become conference rivals very soon. It may have been the best game of the 2013 NCAA tournament.
The NCAA Tournament moves onto its second day of wall-to-wall games on Friday. The East Region’s slate features a pair of very serious title contenders determined to prove they’re on a mission.
