All throughout the 2014-15 year, we will be recognizing one "hero" per month based on their inspirational feats, work helping their neighbors and every day passion through the County Waste Hometown Heroes program.

Eric Nardacci, of East Greenbush, is currently deployed in the Middle East and has been a member of the Air Force for the past 12 years. As part of the “Hometown Heroes” series, we’ve partnered with County Waste, Latham Ford, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region and Awards by Walsh to celebrate local unsung heroes for their good deeds and honorable work. We asked Eric a few questions. He

Juell Springs, of Amsterdam, really made the best of his final year of high school this past year when he orchestrated a school-wide fundraiser to raise money for children with cancer.

Jillian Ferron, of Malta, has been working as a USO member to ease the lives of soldiers by offering them a break from battlefields and allowing them to stay connected with their families.

Veronica Alber, of West Lebanon, has been working on a project, not to enhance her own life but the life of her friend and personal hero.

This week's "Hometown Hero," Stephen Freiberger, of Stillwater, has worked a multitude of jobs as a civil servant, including working as an EMT, Army veteran, police officer, and firefighter.
