Yes, I know beer isn't something related directly to tech, unless you want to talk about how it's brewed. But in my defense, geeks like me love a good beer when we're winding down from a long day at the data center, or that all night hacking session tweaking a database search to make it find all the relevant data.
Lately I've been on a Star Trek kick. I've been watching some old episodes of Enterprise and The Next Generation. So when I came across a story about a Canadian man building a real working Tricorder, I had to check it out. The really interesting part about it is, he's doing it open source, so anyone can take his work, and build their own, or improve it.
One of my favorite TV shows is Star Wars: Clone Wars on Cartoon Network. I watch it for many reasons. The animation, the stories and just to relive being a kid. A recent announcement about the show has made me now go “fanboy” over the show, and my fiance’ may reconsider marrying me for her own sanity.
