Joaquin Phoenix gave us one of the best sci-fi films of the year with his performance in Spike Jonze's 'Her,' but will the star now turn his attention to the comic book universe? While Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. are looking to fill in the ranks of the upcoming 'Batman vs. Superman' movie, the studio is reportedly eyeing Phoenix to take on the villain role.

We haven't heard much about FOX's Batman-avoidant 'Gotham' TV series since the announcement of its order the night Marvel premiered 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,' but with development already underway, it seems a few key timeframe details have emerged to explain why the Caped Crusader won't show his cowl in FOX's 'Gotham.'

In retrospect, we know very little about Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel' sequel, 'Batman vs. Superman' (even the title remains unofficial until the studio breaks its silence). However, it looks like big announcements could be coming soon during a certain 'Man of Steel' fan event.
