The moon rose big and bright in the night sky Saturday night at a full moon and was only 221,565 miles away. The closest and appearing bigger and brightest full moon since 1993 at just 50 minutes past perigee – the point of its orbit that brings it closer to Earth.

This years Supermoon also claimed to bring unusual natural disasters at the time it passed closest to Earth.

Nasa claimed this Supermoon appeared 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than the full moon the Earth usually experiences.
