With plenty of grocery stores not only in the Capital Region but around the county. One of the ones in the area is filing for bankruptcy.

Tops Supermarkets is a store with a few locations in the area. They aren't really too prominent in the lower portion of the Capital Region but more so in the areas surrounding the region. The company owns a total of 169 stores including the Hoosick Falls, Corinth, Northville and Tannersville locations in the region. They also are the employer to 14,262 people.

Now no need to worry if you frequent one of these grocery stores. The company is saying even with the bankruptcy they have no plans to close up any of the stores.

"This will enable us to invest further in our stores, create an even more exceptional shopping experience for our customers and compete more effectively in today's highly competitive and evolving market." - TOPS CEO Frank Curci - TIMES UNION
