Steven Tyler Gets Nasty Feedback For His National Anthem Performance [VIDEO]

Earlier today, Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler performed the National Anthem at the Baltimore Ravens vs. New England Patriots AFC Championship game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The world-renowned singer flopped, however, and received quite a bit of backlash for his performance. Check out the video after the jump.

According to the article:

Early reviews of Tyler’s rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” were not very good, with one football fan writing on Twitter, “Steven Tyler’s national anthem before the Patriots/Ravens game couldn’t have been any worse if John Madden farted it through a harmonica.

Ouch, that was harsh, but this isn’t Tyler’s first sports-related performance that went badly. Back in 2001, he sang the Anthem at the 85th Indianapolis 500, and got slammed for changing a few lyrics to the historical song to “home of the Indianapolis,” in lieu of “home of the brave.” This little intentional hiccup cost Tyler the no. seven spot on Billboard magazine’s“10 worst National Anthem performances ever,” along with:

01. Kat DeLuna, 2008
02. Roseanne Barr, 1990
03. Michael Bolton, 2003
04. Scott Stapp, 2005
05. Aaron Neville, Aretha Franklin and Dr. John, 2006
06. Jesse McCartney, 2009
07. Steven Tyler, 2001
08. R. Kelly, 2005
09. Keri Hilson, 2010
10. Josh Groban and Flea, 2010

Tyler immediately apologized and reaffirmed his patriotism after the incident.

I don’t think it’s that horrible- after all, it’s freezing and he probably can’t feel anything as it is. We can’t all be perfect all the time. The man’s almost 64 I think he’s earned a mistake or two. Give him a break.

What do you think of his performance?
