The rumors are starting to wind out of control now that Jimmy Fallon is reportedly replacing Leno in the near future as the key late night host on NBC.

One such rumor: NBC is in talks with Howard Stern to replace Fallon when he makes the jump to Los Angeles. Siting sources close to Stern, a newspaper is reporting the once "shock jock" is being groomed to take over the "Late Night" show.

Leno's NBC deal is up in 2014 and the network is said to be looking to move the younger demo viewership that Fallon has to the earlier "Tonight Show" slot.

Both Stern's agent and NBC's late night programming chief declined to make any statement on the rumors.

Let's just hope for everyone involved's shake, this doesn't end up like when Canon O'Brien was moved to in Leno's spot a few years back - resulting in NBC letting the red headed host go after only a few months of hosting the "Tonight Show" and a very public falling out.
