If you felt like people were moving at a snails pace on Washington Avenue Extension in Albany over the weekend you are not alone.

I drive on Washington Avenue Extension to and from work every day and on Friday night on my way home it just felt like people were crawling. Once I got home I remembered a similar situation back in the summer when the city of Albany had lowered the speed limit on Washington Avenue near UAlbany from 45mph to 30mph.

So on my way to the studio this morning I decided to investigate and sure enough the signs have all changed from 55mph to 45mph from the I90 exit in front of Crossgates and all the way to New Karner Rd.

After a quick search on the interwebs when I got to work I discovered that WNYT is reporting that the city of Albany has indeed lowered the speed limit on Washington Avenue Extension from 55 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour as part of :

a $7 million project to make the road safer, which also included upgrades to crosswalks and signal buttons.

So consider yourself forewarned. Slow down and avoid getting yourself a ticket!
