In preparation of the winter storm that will dump large amounts of snow over the Capital Region Thursday in to Friday, many towns and cities have declared Snow Emergencies.

The Thruway will be CLOSED between Albany and NYC from midnight TONIGHT through 5 a.m. Friday

Also, I-84 will be CLOSED due to the storm!

 

Albany - The City of Albany has issued a SNOW EMERGENCY that will begin at 8:00 PM on Friday, January 3, 2014 at which time all normal parking rules and regulations are temporarily suspended.

During the first 24 hours of the snow emergency all vehicles must be parked on the even numbered side of the street.

Beginning at 8:00 P.M. Saturday, January 4, 2014 all vehicles must be parked on the odd numbered side of the street for the next 24-hour period. For SNOW EMERGENCY information, call 476-SNOW or log into the city of Albany's website at www.ALBANYNY.gov.

 

Troy - On Friday morning, from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., crews will be focusing on snow push back in the Central Business District. This includes Ferry Street to Federal Street and Front Street to 7th Avenue. Residents are asked to move their vehicles to off street parking to help with curb to curb plowing.

 

Amsterdam - No parking will be allowed on any city street starting at 9am, Thursday, January 2nd. This emergency order will last 36 hours. CLICK HERE to view the city's winter parking ordinance & CLICK HERE to view the snow plow routes.

 

Rensselaer - The City of Rensselaer has declared that a snow emergency which will be in effect starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday. There will be no parking on the even side of the streets for 24 hours. After 24 hours, there will be no parking on the odd side of the street.

 

East Greenbush - The Town of East Greenbush has declared that a snow emergency will be in effect beginning January 2 at 11 a.m.

Local residents are reminded that vehicles are prohibited from parking on any public street during the snow emergency. Vehicles in violation of this law will be subject to ticketing and/or towing. The "Snow Removal Emergency" will be continued until teh storm is over, and all streets have been cleared.

 

Saratoga Springs - The City of Saratoga Springs has declared a snow emergency beginning at 9 a.m. January 2.

Beginning at 9 p.m., all vehicles on city streets except alternate side parking streets must be moved to a plowed or cleared area. Accordingly, all vehicles must be moved every 12 hours thereafter until 9 p.m. January 4.

Except for those streets posted for alternate side parking, it shall be unlawful to park or stand a motor vehicle for any continuous period of time in excess of 12 hours.

All vehicles in violation of the city's Snow Emergency parking regulations are subject to being ticketed and/or towed at owner's expense.

 

Stillwater -  the Village of Stillwater is currently under a snow emergency.  No parking on village streets from now until noon on Saturday January 4th, 2014.  All violators will be ticketed and towed.

 

Schodack - The Town of Schodack has declared a snow emergency with no on-street parking effective Jan. 2 until 6 p.m. Jan. 3.

 

Menands - The Village of Menands has declared a snow emergency beginning January 2 at noon and ending Saturday, January 4 at noon. There is no parking on any village streets.

Parking is available at Ganser Smith Park and Menands Library.

 

Village of Catskills - All vehicles should be parked on the EVEN side of Village streets from 8 AM to 8 PM, and then parked on the ODD side of the street from 8 PM to 8 AM. Vehicles should continue to be moved until all streets are cleared. Effective on Jan.1, there will be NO parking on Main Street from Greene Street to Summit Avenue beginning at 8 PM to 8 AM. The parking regulation will remain in effect each evening until snow has been cleared from the street.

 

Mechanicville - There will be NO ODD SIDE parking beginning at 8am Thursday 1/02/2014 and continuing until 8am Friday 1/03/2014. There will be NO EVEN SIDE parking beginning at 8am on Friday 1/03/2014 continuing until 8am on Saturday 1/04/2014. Any questions with the restrictions can be directed to the DPW at 518-664-7171.

 

Waterford - The Town of Waterford has declared a snow emergency for all town roads. it will be in effect from 9 AM Jan. 2, until further notice. Residents are asked to park in their driveways and to follow all posted alternate parking signs. Those who are non-compliant will be ticketed and towed.

 

Schodack - The Town of Schodack has declared a snow emergency with no on-street parking effective Jan. 2 until 6 p.m. Jan. 3.

 

Athens - The Village of Athens has declared a snow emergency effective 8 am, Thursday, Jan. 2. Alternate side of the street parking regulations will be in effect.  All vehicles must move to the opposite side of the street at 6 p.m. each day until streets are cleared or the emergency is lifted.

 

Adams - The Town of Adams Department of Public Works has issued a snow emergency beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 2 and continuing until noon Friday, January 3. During the snow emergency no vehicles are allowed to park on the streets. All violators are subject to being towed.

The Adams Police Department will be enforcing the town by-law that prohibits any person to shovel, plow, push or throw snow out into the streets.

 

Greenport - No parking on city streets from midnight Jan. 1 to noon on Saturday, January 4.
