Jersey Shore's Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi recently caused a stir at Rutgers University after being paid to give an "inspirational" speech. Believe me, the speech was far from inspirational and anything but intelligent. Parents are outraged (the one's that pay their kids' tuition) and several students are embarrassed.

Fox News stated, "The boardwalk bimbo drew 2,000 students to both of her Q&A sessions Thursday night at which she offered tales of her rise to "guidette" stardom, and offered such advice as When you're tan, you feel better about yourself, and Study hard, but party harder." Clearly, she did draw a crowd, but it wasn't for the right intentions. I'm curious to how long her Q&A sessions were, and if anyone was "shmooshed."

One student even reported to Fox, "Rutgers probably could have paid her with a case of beer." Again, that is also true. I don't know if Snooki even has a college degree, but her wealth is the result of being a sloppy partier on a reality show. This is not a path anyone should choose to take. One day the show will be gone, and so will her temporary fame. Most of us don't like the show anyways, we just love to watch guys and girls make fools of themselves.

The club president told Fox News, "We're trying to provide different kinds of experiences to students." Being a college student, I know my school is constantly trying to keep students involved in campus activities. We've had comedians, bands such as O.A.R., and the best sex education seminars ever. The money is often well-spent and there's always positive feedback as a result of it. I love Jersey Shore, but Snooki is not worth $32,000 of my time. If I wanted to talk about tanning, I'd go to a tanning salon. It's a hell of a lot cheaper, and I'd probably learn something far more useful than what Snooki would have to say.

By the way, if you were not already in shock. Fox also stated "she [Snooki] got $2,000 more than Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison will get for this year's commencement address." That's such an embarrassment. It's also pretty embarrassing that she was on Wrestlemania last night. Stop paying these people!
