The 46-year-old guitar hero and legend Slash has dedicated his life to music, and it has paid off well for him. The star has been honored with yet another well-deserved award, kicking off 2012 in the best, rockin' way possible.

This time around, the award comes from well-known magazine Guitar International, which has given Slash the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Slash, AKA Saul Hudson, hails from London, England and used to be a member of Guns N' Roses, but has belonged to Velvet Revolver for some time now with other ex-GNR members. He has toured the world and played with basically every musical rock star known to man, and recently just released his first solo album, and plans to do so again this year. He truly is a prodigy and has made the rock world what it is today, which is a great basis for the award, which, according to the article:

Celebrates guitarists that have deepened our passion for our favorite music, as well as entertained and inspired guitarists around the world.

This statement couldn't be anymore true for Slash, and it sounds as though the award was made just for him. He deserves every award he has and every second of glory he receives from them.

As a token of thanks and appreciation, Slash tweeted about winning this award, writing: A huge thank u to Guitar International for the '11 Lifetime Achievement Award. I'm honored & humbled to say the least.

Congrats to Mr. Slash- a truly talented man and musician who still appreciates what he has and continues to receive even after all this time.
