Schenectady Police are warning residents of the city's North Side after 18 reported break-ins in the first 19 days of August. The burglaries have occurred from Foster Avenue to Lowell road and Union Street (North) to Seneca Street.

According to police, the suspects have been entering the homes in the middle of the night while residents sleep. They are gaining entrance via unlocked sliding windows in the rear of the homes.

The items taken from the homes include everything from cash, electronics, cellphones, and laptop computers.

Police are asking the residents don't think twice and report any suspicious activity to them. They are also asking that home owners turn on their exterior lights as well as looking all windows and doors.
