A Rock/Docs film series kicks off Thursday (Jan. 5) at the Madison Theater in Albany with "Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage" tonight at 7pm.

According to nippertown.com, the showing is in conjunction with and exhibit called "Rock & Roll Icons" and will also include a live intro by rock photographer Patrick Harborn. The screenings are at 7pm on Thursdays and begin tonight with the Rush documentary. Tickets are $10, $8 for students and seniors. Films showing over the next few week's include "This is Spinal Tap", "Gimme Shelter", and " A Band Called Death".  Get more info here.

Rush formed out of Toronto, Canada in 1968. The band features Geddy Lee along with guitarist Alex Lifeson and drummer Neil Peart. Rush were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013 and toured on the R40 Tour in celebration of the band’s 40th anniversary in 2015. The band released the R40 Live cd/dvd in 2015. According to industry sources, Rush have sold over 40 million records worldwide. The band was inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
