[Update: 2:25p 4-11-13]

Police in Rotterdam have arrested and charged 28 year old Brice Rivenburgh with 1st degree burglary after they say he broke into the home of  ex-girlfriend Jessica McCormack, early Wednesday morning. This of course, is the very same home that Jessica and her mother were found strangled in.

Police say that they have not charged, nor are they calling Rivenburgh a suspect in the deaths of Schenectady School District employee Tammy McCormack and her daughter, 21 year old Jessica, saying:

This is 24 hours into the investigation. It's very new

It has been reported that Rivenburgh has had run-ins with police in the past but wouldn't comment on the reasons.

I have to tell you, we live in a strange world. While it's easy to sit back and watch from a far, sometimes the dangers and scariness of life and people smack us right in the face. Case in point:

In the quiet town of Rotterdam, this morning, firefighters were called to a structure fire at 1142 Inner Drive. After extinguishing the fire they found the bodies of a mother and daughter.

Police believe the mother is Tammy McCormack, an assistant human resources director for the Schenectady School District.

It is reported that a Crisis Response team is currently being assembled by the school district as police continue to investigate.

Thoughts and prayers for this family.
