Rockstar Resume Points to Next Version of Classic IP

Red Dead Redemption
Rockstar Games

Rockstar Games is still reveling in the success of Grand Theft Auto 5, but the developer is reportedly already hard at work on its next title. At least, that’s what the Linkedin profile of one designer would have us believe.

According to AllGamesBeta, Doron Feinstein is now working at Rockstar New England as a senior graphics engineer. Ordinarily, that wouldn’t be a big deal. However, among Feinstein’s credits, which include GTA 5 and Max Payne 3, he currently lists working on a “next version of a famous IP.”

With new consoles on the horizon, it’s not much of a reach to expect this mystery game to be a next-gen title. Narrowing down the sequel shouldn’t be too difficult either, as there are only a few different ways this could play out. Bully was cult classic from the PS2 era, and Rockstar has hinted it would like to revisit the franchise again. Red Dead Redemption was more of a success, and a proper sequel would certainly get us excited to saddle up once more. Perhaps a new Midnight Club is in the cards, but it’s less likely given Rockstar hasn’t made mention of a new entry in years. We definitely know it’s not Agent, as that’s a new IP that has yet to see one entry, and has been locked in limbo since it was announced a few years ago.

Regardless of what Rockstar has in the works, it’s unlikely we’ll find out any details for quite some time. Grand Theft Auto 5 is still a priority for the developer, and we’ve always had to exercise a lot of patience when waiting for Rockstar to reveal new projects.
