With more than 40 bands to see at Rock On The Range, can be overwhelming.   Three stages going non-stop could be a deciding factor when to eat or take a bathroom break.  What band can't you afford to miss?  Stone Sour.

Stone Sour will be performing on the 2nd day of Rock On The Range and has been around for a while forming in 1992. Since 2006 the group consists of  Corey Taylor ( lead vocalist)  Jim Root (lead guitar, keyboard), Josh Rand, (rhythm guitar), Shawn Economaki (bass guitar) and Roy Mayorga (drums, percussion).

The band disbanded for a period of time in 1997, when Corey formed Slipknot, but reunited in 2002.   They have three studio albums to their credit; Self titled Stone Sour (2002) with the hit single "Bother" - The song was used in a Spiderman movie; Come What(ever) May (2006) with the hit single "Through Glass" and their latest album, "Audio Secrecy", released back in September 2010.  Current singles "Say You'll Haunt Me" and "Hestiate" are on Q103's playlist.

To sum up the sound of their most recent record Corey Taylor says  “Audio Secrecy is the summation of everything we want, everything we crave and everything we fight for...The dimensions go further than anything we've ever tried before. It's metal, rock, slow, soft, hard, fast, bitter, beautiful and most importantly, it's real. You can't get an album like this out of a band that doesn't exist. We're throwing caution out the damn window.”

Stone Sour was on tour with Avenged Sevenfold & Disturbed last summer as part of the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival. They toured with A7X on the Nightmare After Christmas Tour in January 2011 and is currently on tour as part of the Avalanche Tour with Halestorm,  Theory Of A Deadman, Skillet and Art Of Dying.

A recent review of Stone Sour on the Avalanche Tour says it all.

Stone Sour, led by Corey Taylor, got the headlining duties, as they ran through their recent string of hits, from the rock tunes "Say You'll Haunt Me" and "Digital (Did You Tell)" to the ballads "Bother" and "Through Glass." Over their hour-long set, Taylor kept the fired-up crowd dancing, moshing and singing along. However, their latest single, "Hesitate" was the big singalong of the night, and should be a crossover hit onto mainstream pop radio as well as rock stations.

Taylor also is the voice of the costume-wearing post-grunge group Slipknot. Taylor's voice is generic; there's nothing wrong with it, but it doesn't stand out as unique. But he proved to be a charismatic lead singer.

Stone Sour is one band, that I wont want to miss at Rock On The Range.
