Robert Hegyes, Epstein From ‘Welcome Back, Kotter’, Dies At 60

Sad news from the entertainment world.  Robert Hegyes, who is best known for portraying Juan Epstein from Welcome Back, Kotter has passed away from an apparent heart attack.

ABC News reports that Hegyes suffered a heart attack and died at his New Jersey home on Thursday.  Hegyes was 60 years old.

Best known for his role on Welcome Back, Kotter, Hegyes also had roles on other television shows such as Cagney and Lacey apparently had suffered another heart attack a few years ago and was not in the best health.  That according to his brother.

Hegyes had just most recently reunited with the cast of Welcome Back, Kotter at the TV Land Awards to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the show.
