We lost Jimi Hendrix on this day (Sept. 18, 1970).

Jimi Hendrix was a major influence on many rock and roll musicians. He taught himself to play the electric guitar and usually played a Fender Stratocaster, ehich he played upside down since he was left-handed. He initially became famous in England and then became famous all through the world after playing the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. He would also be known for playing the famous Woodstock Music Festival in 1969. Sadly, Jimi passed away of a drug overdose at the age of 27.

In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine named Jimi Hendrix the “Greatest Guitarist of All Time”. There are always cool Jimi Hendrix music cd and dvd releases put out on a regular basis. A new release entitled Machine Gun Jimi Hendrix The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/1969 featuring the band's first ever show will be released Sept. 30.
