We run short on a lot of things in the Capital Region during the winter ... day time hours, sunlight, but blood should not be one of them. Here's how you can help.

The winter is busy time for many in the Capital Region for a wide variety of reasons ranging from busy holiday schedules, work, and even extra to do's at home (**ahem** shoveling). While we certainly know all to well the toll those busy schedules take on ourselves physically and mentally you may not realize that your busy schedule could have an effect on the lives of others.

Did you know that every 2 seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood and that 100% of the blood that is needed and used in hospitals comes from a donor like you? Just one donation, less than an hour of your time, can save up to 3 peoples lives. Right now the American Red Cross in the Capital Region is suffering from a blood shortage where the normal 5 day supply of blood has dropped down to only 3 days and they have issued an emergency call for blood donors.
