This week on Free Advice Friday some advice on how you could help the residents of Cohoes after Thursday's devastating fire.

Thursday afternoon disaster struck on Remsen St. in Cohoes when a backyard barrel fire was stoked by 20 and 30 mile per hour winds and subsequently ended up catching multiple city blocks on fire. At this point we know that at least 20 buildings have sustained some sort of damage, dozens of families are without homes, and possibly even more without jobs. Officials are still assessing the total damage done to homes and business in the area and the process could take weeks to complete.

Normally for Free Advice Friday Vinnie and I bring you some silly piece of advice that is really more of a reminder on things you should already know. This week we wanted to give you some advice on how to help the residents of Cohoes. The Q is launching the Q103 Rebuild Cohoes Relief Effort and with your help we can help Cohoes Rise and Recover together.

Join myself (Q103's Candace) and Q103 as we broadcast live from Dunkin Donuts at 92 Saratoga Street in Cohoes  this Monday, December 4th from 10am to 3pm, we’ll be collecting cash donations and goods to help those affected by this horrible event.

If you would like to donate over the weekend or can't make it out to Cohoes on Monday and would like to help you can also visit any Cap Comm Federal Credit Union and make a donation to the Blue Friday Rebuild Cohoes account.

Thank you for helping these residents rise and recover and letting them know the Capital Region cares about Cohoes.
