Saratoga could go the way of San Francisco and ban plastic bags thanks to a new petition.

Sustainable Saratoga has launched the campaign and will be collecting signatures throughout the summer. Volunteers will hit the streets visiting businesses and neighborhoods in an attempt to gain signatures. Their hope is to have enough signatures by this fall to present the petition City Council this fall.

The BYOBag (Bring Your Own Bag) co-chair Margie Shepard says:

If you care about our environment and our beautiful town, please sign our petition to ban plastic check-out bags in Saratoga Springs. We would love to make Saratoga a model city where waste reduction and recycling are common practice.
