Looks like we might be able to catch some shows in Western New York in 2018 without having to drive for 5 hours!

Depending on what the cost of this new non-stop service will be that is.

This morning it was announced that non-stop flight service from Albany International Airport to Buffalo Niagara International Airport will once again become available, courtesy of OneJet, and will run two times per day beginning February 1st, 2018. Tickets for the new service will be going on sale January 9th, 2018. According to News10 the daily schedule will be as follows:

  • BUF to ALB: departing 7:00 a.m. ET; arriving 7:55 a.m. ET
  • ALB to BUF: departing 8:20 a.m. ET; arriving 9:20 a.m. ET
  • BUF to ALB: departing 4:50 p.m. ET; arriving 5:45 p.m. ET
  • ALB to BUF: departing 6:10 p.m. ET; arriving 7:10 p.m.

You know normally if you wanted to travel from Albany to Buffalo you would either have to prepare for 5 hours in the car and mission the 290 miles up the New York State Thruway or spend upwards of $350 to fly and have to pick up a connecting flight somewhere that is generally nowhere near Buffalo or Albany before you could make it to Western New York.

I'm hoping that with the addition of these new non-stop flights in February we will not only be able to cut down on travel time but flight costs as well. If that's the case I definitely might be catching a few more shows out west in 2018. However, the jets on this airline, OneJet, look to be geared a bit more to business travelers with pockets a little deeper than I can reach. I guess we will find out just how expensive Albany to Buffalo flights will be in January when flights go on sale.

What do you think? Will you be making more trips to Buffalo with the new service?
