Nickelback Clap Back as Arnold Schwarzenegger Includes Band in Dig at Congress
Nickelback have taken their fair share of shots from critics over the years, becoming a bit of a punching bag in the process. But the band has often shown the ability to take the sting out of some of the digs with their clever comebacks and they've once again taken a diss and turned it back on the person who started it. In this case, the culprit is former governor and Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In the video above, Schwarzenegger speaks with ATTN: about Congress and how unpopular they are. In trying to prove his point, Schwarzenegger states, "Here are some of the things that are more popular than Congress: hemorrhoids, Nickelback, traffic jams, root canals, colonoscopies, herpes. Even herpes, they couldn't beat herpes in the polls." He also tweeted the video, stating, "When Congress is less popular than herpes & Nickelback, how do 97% of them get re-elected? Gerrymandering."
After getting wind of the Governator's diss, Nickelback dug in and offered a shot of their own, calling out Schwarzenegger's critically panned Batman & Robin film. See the exchange below:
After Nickelback fired back, Schwarzenegger backed off his criticism, but turned the discussion back to his original point about Congress, with Nickelback accepting Schwarzenegger's pivot and offering #Respect. See that exchange below:
Despite the critical bashing over the years, there have been mostly positive reviews for Nickelback's new single "Feed the Machine" from the upcoming album of the same name. The disc is due June 9 and the band has already announced a major tour for the summer. Dates can be found here.
