Gas prices in New York are on the decline while the national average rises according to reports.

The Troy Record reports that average gas prices in New York have fallen 1.8 cents per gallon this past week, with an average of $2.46 per gallon with the national average decreasing 7.1 cents per gallon last month standing at 57.9 cents per gallon higher than at this time a year ago. Patrick DeHaan of GasBuddy.com says "The era of falling gas prices will likely be coming to an end soon at a gas station near you. Not to say declines are completely done, but over the next few weeks we'll likely see more times when stations are raising their prices then dropping them, thanks to gasoline demand that will soon be recovering and crude oil imports that will soon reflect OPEC's lower output." He went on to say, "the national average typically rises 35-65 cents a gallon from it's low price, usually in February, through Memorial Day, and there's no reason to believe the same won't happen this year, so buckle up."
