New Virtual Shooting Lounge Now Open at Crossgates Mall

We got a chance to test out the Capital Regions new virtual shooting lounge before today's grand opening! Here's a little sneak peak at what you can expect ...

Last week we told you about how the first virtual shooting lounge on the east coast was getting ready to open in the Capital Region. Well, yesterday we got a chance to check out a little sneak preview of Modern Round, it's the new Virtual Shooting Lounge, located inside Lucky Strike Social at the Crossgates Mall and let me tell you it did not disappoint!

I don't know about you but I'm always on the look out for fun stuff to do in the Capital Region that's different then just the usual. So when I heard that Lucky Strike was totally converting their arcade area to accommodate Modern Round I was pretty excited to check it out! Modern Round consists of 14 lounges where you and your friends can hang out and enjoy some tasty beverages and delicious eats all while testing out your shooting skills with lifelike replica firearms that shoot virtual amo!

When you first walk in the sight of Modern Round makes you want to jump in and start playing immediately! The place is lined in floor to ceiling projector screens that offer so many different gaming options you could literally spend hours trying to get through like half of them. With so many options and cool things too try out it could be a little overwhelming at first but luckily the staff there is more than happy to show you the ropes and get you started!

They go over safety precautions with you because although you are using a replica firearm they do look and feel like the real thing! From the weight to the kickback these things are no joke. The best part about them though is that they shoot virtual ammunition. So it's kind of like laser tag, except you don't have to run around and find people. You can choose between a replica pistol or rifle (just a heads up, that rifle is heavy and will give you a bit of a kick back) through my experience I found that one works better for different games than the other.

Speaking of games, the sheer amount of games available is phenomenal. You can choose between skill tests, simulations, and just for funsies games. We went through quite a few but I think I'm going to need a few more lounge sessions to get my accuracy up.
