Pearl Jam has a new song -sort of.  It's a cover and was performed 10 years ago.   It's called Crown of Thorns," and its the the first track to be released from the upcoming Pearl Jam Twenty soundtrack.  The song was recorded live at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on 10/22/2000.

The song is actual a cover of Mother Love Bone the short lived Seattle based band that produced two founding members; guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament.  The song called Crown of Thorns and is being streamed on Pearl Jams webpage.

Pearl Jam's 20 documentary film will be out September 20th.

PJ20′ will begin a one-week theater run in key markets starting Sept. 23.

Cameron Crowe is the director.

According to Crowe about the song;

I asked Vedder about Andrew Wood, the late singer-songwriter of Mother Love Bone, whose passing left the place that Vedder would later fill. Though Vedder chose not to name the song, he did say there was one Wood composition he would be honored to sing 'one day.' He declined to say more.
