When you are working out at the gym do you find louder, harder music makes you go "the extra distance" and work harder towards your goal for the day? You're not crazy. In fact, science proves your theory right.

Scientist had test subjects take part in one of two conditions. They wanted to see what was more productive: just listening to music vs if the subject directly controlled the music via movement.

The subjects worked on a fitness machine. The first group picked their music while the second group worked on a machine what would produce music once motion began. The speed in which the person went also determined the speed of the music.

The result? Those who had control over the music via the machine experienced less exertion and expanded less energy. So I guess, make your own music?

But seriously; the louder and the harder - the better. Music does have an effect on you and your efficiency.
