I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing but it's a pretty awesome sight to behold.

There have been multiple reports of a humpback whale seen splashing around in the Hudson River over the last couple of days. Now I don't know about you but with the Hudson's reputation I forget that there is probably actual living things in that water. Initially I was thrown back with the reports because with that reputation I can't imagine it's healthy for a humpback whale to venture into those polluted waters and I had to wonder if it was hurt or sick or something.

However, according to CBS New York experts are saying that doesn't seem to be the case because it appears the young whale is just swimming about. Lots of people were speculating that the Clean Water Act had "cleaned up the Hudson enough" for this rare appearance to occur but let's be real here that river is not going to be "cleaned up enough" in our lifetime.

They say that most likely it's just following it's food since "legislation [passed] that reduced fishing limits for Menhaden make them more prevalent and therefore available to the humpbacks to hunt". Which makes for a pretty cool whale watching experience! Check out some of the sightings captured on social media below!
