Happy Birthday today (Feb. 6) to Axl Rose. The Guns N’ Roses frontman is 55.

One of my favorite rockers of all time, Axl Rose has been frontman for Guns N’ Roses since the band formed in 1985. He co-founded the band, and had great success in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Their first album Appetite for Destruction is the best-selling debut album in U.S. with sales of 18 million. The album has sold over 30 million copies worldwide. The successful Use Your Illusion albums were released in 1991. After 1994, Rose disappeared from the public eye following the Use Your Illusion Tour. He resurfaced with a new Guns N’ Roses lineup in 2001 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 with Guns N’ Roses but declined  to attend the event.

Fast forward to 2016, as the original core Guns N’ Roses lineup reunited featuring along with Slash on guitar and Duff McKagan on bass.  A highly anticipated reunion tour took place dubbed the Not in this Lifetime Tour… which I got to see last summer at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ and it was just an amazing show. I was happy to finally see the original lineup perform together after being such a longtime fan of the band. They are going back out this summer and it looks like I’ll be taking a road trip to see them as Buffalo, NY appears to be the closest date for me. Check out the official Guns N’ Roses website here.

On a personal note, there has been a lot of talk about making the day after the Super Bowl a National holiday, and I'd have to agree, at least this year. Not because everyone is hungover from Super Bowl festivities and don't feel like going to work today, but because today is the birthday of one of the greatest rock n roll frontmen of all time!
