There are few names in Men's college basketball that are as big as Dean Smith and Bobby Knight but you can add Coach K to that list of greatness.  Last night the Duke head coach moved into #2 on the the all time list with his 880th career win.  That puts him 1 ahead of the legendary coach of the UNC Tar Heels Dean Smith and just 22 behind #1 Bobby Knight.

When asked about the big night after the game Coach K proved once again why he is one of the classiest guys in college hoops when he took no credit for his success:

I don't want to make it sound less than what it is, but number of wins, you have to be healthy, you have to have really good players, you have to have commitment from your school. So, I don't know if that's as much an achievement as much as the result of having all those things.

- Mike Krzyzewski

Just another "achievement" Coach K can add to an already impressive resume. He has appeared in 8 NCAA men's division 1 championship games, winning 4 including last year.  He coached the men's USA basketball team to a gold medal performance in 2008.  He's been the Naismith College Coach of the Year 3 times and the ACC coach of the year 5 times.  Duke is well on their way to another championship this year, and Coach K will no doubt go past Bob Knight to take the #1 all time win spot in men's college basketball.
