So we have been hearing for a little while now that Metallica was working on a bit of a "secret project", and last night the Project was finally revealed.  They have a fully recorded album with none other than Lou Reed ready to go.  This is very exciting since Lou is such an influence in the rock world.

Metallica said that they had been wanting to work with Lou ever since performing with him at the 2009 Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductions.

Ever since we had the pleasure of performing with Lou at the 25th anniversary of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame at Madison Square Garden in October of 2009, we have been kicking around the idea of making a record together. Some of you astute Bay Area residents may have picked up news of recent Lou Reed sightings in the greater San Francisco area and we have indeed been working at our home studio at on and off over the last few months. In what would be lightning speed for a METALLICA-related project, we recorded ten songs during this time and while at this moment we're not exactly sure when you'll hear it, we're beyond excited to share with you that the recording sessions wrapped up last week.

I have to say, if it sounds anything like their 2009 performance, then this album is going to rock!  It may be another one like Garage Inc, which is awesome since that is one of my favorite albums by those guys.  It's really cool when an artist like Metallica kind of steps out of the box to record something different.  Kirk Hammet said that this isn't going to be your typical Metallica record, and that is just fine by me.
