Megadeth made their stop in New York City for two consecutive nights at Terminal 5 while on their Dystopia World Tour in support of their latest album of the same name. We had the chance to cover the first show (March 16) and fans packed into the multi-tiered venue for a memorable night of music.

Dave Mustaine and his bandmates began their headlining set with an older favorite “Hangar 18” and then moved onto “The Threat Is Real,” the lead track off Dystopia. Other new songs performed included “Post American World,” “Fatal Illusion,” “Poisonous Shadows” and the album’s title track. Fans unleashed to favorites “Wake Up Dead,” “Tornado of Souls,” “Trust” and “Symphony of Destruction.” Guitarist Kiko Loureiro is a welcome energy to the band; drummer Chris Adler is a beast behind the kit; bassist David Ellefson's interaction with fans is one the front row enjoyed, while Mustaine was on fire both vocally and on guitar. When Megadeth come to town, get ready to sweat bullets.

“I’m sick but it’s about to get sick” said Suicidal Tendencies frontman Mike Muir, who was feeling under the weather but that didn’t stop him and the rest of the band from delivering a forceful performance before Megadeth's headlining set. It was fitting that the band kicked off their show with “You Can’t Bring Me Down,” and cranked out notable tunes “I Saw Your Mommy” and “Pledge Your Allegiance.” Punk and hardcore fans fed off of the band’s infectious vibe from beginning to end.  Not to mention, the pairing of Suicidal Tendencies and the legendary Dave Lombardo on drums is an absolute match made in heaven.

Children of Bodom took the stage earlier on and frontman Alexi Laiho provided shred-tastic solos. The crowd really opened up the pit during their new anthem of mayhem “I Worship Chaos.”  Colorado thrash metal band Havok were the openers and battered ear drums with their pummeling set.
