Wednesday night another milestone in professional baseball was reached. San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain threw a no-hitter, the fifth so far in 2012.

Either pitchers have started to juice up, or hitters have dried up. It seems as though we are reporting a no-hitter every other week at this point. To me, the specialness of it has worn off when it gets done so often. Perhaps it's just a coincidence, but it looks like pitchers are having a way easier time throwing no-hitters these days.

Matt Cain threw the league's fifth no-hitter of the year. THE YEAR. We used to wait to see a no-hitter thrown every couple of years. Johan Santana threw the New York Mets' first ever no-hitter at the beginning of the month, and R.A Dickey nearly threw their second Wednesday night. Either pitchers have gotten a lot better, or something fishy is going on.
