The confirmation that Marvel's 'Agent Carter' One-Shot would spawn its very own ABC series adaptation brought with it a number of questions, particularly whom from the Marvel Cinematic Universe might join Hayley Atwell on the series? Dominic Cooper seemed like a strong possibility, given his role in the original 'Agent Carter' short, but has his presence as Howard Stark officially been confirmed for the ABC series?

Making the rounds last week was a quote from Atwell, wherein the 'Captain America' actress appeared to confirm Cooper's involvement with the series, in that she'd already plotted how best to prank him on set. “He’s incredibly naughty,” the series star told The Telegraph of Cooper, adding, “I’m going to start the pranks as early as I can. He will come up with some very good ones, too.”

Naturally, many took the quote as a "slip" of Atwell confirming Cooper would appear on the series as Howard Stark, though a more comprehensive investigation from Buzzfeed revealed that no such deal with Cooper has been confirmed, nor has the series even produced any scripts beyond the pilot, or begun casting outside of Atwell herself.

Supposedly set for an eight-episode first season, the 'Agent Carter' series will be executive produced by ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘ writers Christopher Markus and Steve McFeely, who also wrote the pilot, along with ‘Reaper’ creators/showrunners Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas. Marvel Studios film producers Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Jeph Loeb will also act as producers.

Here’s how Marvel describes ‘Agent Carter’:

Marvel’s ‘Agent Carter,’ starring Captain America’s Hayley Atwell follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ along with the short ‘Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.’

The description alone at least leaves room for Cooper to take part in the series, but what say you? Does 'Agent Carter' need Howard Stark to succeed, or would Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter be able to carry an all-new cast through her '40s adventures?
