Marianne Faithfull, the '60s chanteuse who had hits with 'As Tears Go By,' 'Come and Stay with Me' and 'Summer Nights,' is in a Greek hospital after breaking her hip.

Yesterday (June 1), the following message was posted to her Facebook page. It reads:

Marianne has been hospitalised after falling on Friday and breaking her hip while on holiday on the Greek island of Rhodes.

Alexandros Pittas, the orthopedic surgeon that operated on Marianne said today that she underwent a successful surgery, and "Tomorrow, we will try to help her get up and we assess she needs to stay in hospital for about a week."

I'm sure all Marianne's fans would like to send their love and wish her a speedy recovery.

This is the second serious injury to befall Faithfull in less than a year. Last August, Faithfull was forced to cancel four concerts when she fractured her sacrum, the bone at the base of her back.

Faithfull has a new album coming out in September. 'Give My Love to London' features songwriting contributions from Roger Waters, Nick Cave and Steve Earle. Her most recent album was 2011's 'Horses and High Heels.'
