So they said you had better odds to date a supermodel or get struck by lightning instead of winning the Mega Millions 640 million dollar jackpot.   A man in Kansas bought three Mega Millions tickets and then that night was struck by lightning! After Bill Isles, 48 of Kansas bought the three Mega tickets he commented to his friend that he would have a better chance of being struck by lightning instead of winning the lottery.   Later that night while standing in his backyard, he saw a flash, heard a boom - lightning.. He was thrown to the ground quivering.

He was taken by ambulance to the hospital and observed overnight.  He suffered no burns or other physical effects from the strike, which he said could have been worse because his yard has a power line pole and wires overhead.    It was not a direct hit.

On Friday he had friends buy him 10 more tickets and although one of the winners did come from Kansas, it was not him.

I guess the moral of the story is, don't tell your friends you would have a better chance of being struck by lightning than winning the lottery.  He should have said that he just purchased the winning ticket!

The 640 million dollar question still remains.  Who won the jackpot?  All we know is there were winners in Maryland, Kansas and Illinois.  Each winning tickets is worth $213 million dollars before taxes.

The winning numbers in Friday night's drawing were 02-04-23-38-46, and the Mega Ball 23. Winners could receive either a one-time payment of their share or take it in 26 annual installment payments.
