Tell us about your band!: The 7-piece group churns out a "futuristic retro" R&B pop sound, featuring rich vocal harmonies and colorful yet tasteful instrumentation. Their debut album, “LOVE” was released on Valentine’s Day 2009, and the New York buzz surrounding these young pros resulted in a sellout of their recent debut performance. With current collaborations in the works with Jay-Z and Usher, Mirk continues to tour with The New Familiars as they broaden their fast growing fan base. In September of 2009, MTVnews and Rolling Stone magazine reported Jay-Z was releasing a track titled "Crispy Benjamins"; a track composed and produced by Joshua Mirk and sold to Jay-Z. The track features a sample of New Familiar's members Mirk and Mike Thornton's friend and classmate at SUNY Purchase, Regina Spektor and her song "Chemo Limo" and it's believed to be released mid 2010/11 on ether a re-release of The Blueprint 3 or an entirely new album. The New Familiars sophomore album is scheduled for an early May 2010 release date and is reported to be a full-length, full band studio album; featuring full band arrangements of LOVE as well as new several new tracks.
