In the Albany Region we have the pleasure of having a true American culture and film tradition, Drive-In Theaters. Jericho (Glenmont), El Rancho (Palatine Bridge), Hathaway's (North Hoosick), and the Greenville drive-in are all great places to catch a double feature in your car, back hatch of your van, or in lawn chairs with a handheld radio.

These icons of cinema have long been on the brink of extinction. For many years competing against major movie complexes and now facing the threat of "digital movies". All movies will be switching to the digital format in the coming months and the projectors for digital movies cost upwards of $80,000. Most drive-ins don't make enough money to purchase these projectors which would help them to stay open.

That is until now thanks to car manufacturer Honda.

Honda will be giving away five digital projectors in their "Project Drive-In". You can CLICK HERE to cast a vote for our area drive-ins. The website says of the project:

We want to preserve this iconic part of American car culture. So we’re taking the first step by starting a drive-in fund and donating 5 digital projectors. Your vote decides where they go.

Once you're on the site, go to "Vote to Save a Drive-In", type Albany, NY in the search bar, and all of the above mentioned theaters will show up. Please cast a vote and help save an American tradition here in the Albany Region.

Below are three of our area Drive-Ins and their reasons why you should vote for them
