This is how I'll always remember Lemmy.

That's not entirely true. I was first introduced to Lemmy properly in the movie Airheads where I learned that Lemmy is God.

Lemmy's passing, for me, is a little bit like Scott Weiland's passing. I'm sad for the loss of someone who's art and passion I enjoyed so much, and yet I don't find myself in shock. Lemmy has been in poor health for a while now and had a hard time on tour this year due to his health. It doesn't soften the blow any, but maybe I was a little prepared.

While looking around Reddit today at all the Lemmy-inspired posts, this video stuck with me. I didn't see the performance the first time around. It's at the Golden God Awards. Rob Halfrod of Judas Priest introduces the next act as "Slash," even though it's Slash, Dave Grohl and Lemmy doing the Motörhead song "Ace Of Spades."

I'd like to think Rob didn't say Lemmy, because to him, of course it's Lemmy, they're going to play a Motörhead song and everyone knows that and who he is. He's Lemmy. Even on a stage full of accomplished musicians, some of the best we have to offer from the world of rock today, Lemmy stood out, front and center.
