It was just a little while ago in September that Andy Rooney decided to retire from CBS' '60 Minutes'.  He had been working as a journalist since World War II and became a regular on '60 Minutes' in the 1970's.  Sometime on Friday Rooney passed away due to complications from and unspecified operation.  He was 92 years old.

Rooney was born right here in Albany where he graduated from Albany Academy.  It was after that, that he pursued a career in journalism.  Though he lived in Manhattan,   Rooney wasn't far from Albany area though.  He kept a vacation home in Rensselaerville, NY in the Helderberg Mountains.  He may be best remembered as a "grumpy old man", but he is a legend of the area.  Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
