Lamb of God Vocalist Randy Blythe’s ‘Dark Days’ Memoir Receives 2014 Release Date

Da Capo

Back in July, it was announced that Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe would write a memoir of his Czech manslaughter case. In a new catalog from Da Capo Press, the publishers of Blythe’s ‘Dark Days: My Tribulation and Trials,’ the memoir will be released in summer 2014.

The controversial charges brought upon Blythe and the subsequent trial took up nearly a year of the vocalist’s life, but in the end, the singer was given a “not guilty” verdict. The metal community breathed a collective exhale after the court’s decision was made public, although the untimely death of a young Lamb of God fan kept Blythe from feeling pure jubilance.

“While I’ve dreamed of being a published author almost since I began to read, I never imagined my first book would center around such a sad topic,” says Blythe. “Sometimes though, life unexpectedly provides you a story that needs to be told. I believe this one does (for several different reasons, not just for the benefit of myself), so I will tell it with the respect and dignity all involved deserve. This will be a good read, I promise you, and I hope some good comes of it.”

In Da Capo’s ‘New Titles Spring 2014′ booklet, the publishers offer a small portion of Randy Blythe’s 288 page memoir:

After three days … I would arrive at Prague’s Pankrac Remand Prison, a crumbling 123-year old hellhole where the Nazis had imprisoned, tortured, and executed thousands of Czechs … No one spoke English, and I spoke no Czech. I didn’t even have a watch and had no earthly idea what time it was. But I soon found out.

Blythe also offered a new quote about the book:

Most substance abuse books end with the author getting sober. My book starts there.

Amazon lists a June 24, 2014 release date for ‘Dark Days: My Tribulation and Trials.’ To pre-order the book, click here.

Update: The release date for ‘Dark Days’ has been moved back to Feb. 3, 2015.
