In the new documentary ‘Hit So Hard: The Life & Near Death Story of Patty Schemel,’ there is home video footage of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love casually performing the unreleased song ‘Stinking of You’ — check it out below.

Even though he passed on over 18 years ago, Kurt Cobain’s name has popped up a lot in the press recently. After news that he was working on a solo album at the time of his death broke, fans of the grunge icon have been wondering what that release may have sounded like. Maybe this footage from a new documentary about former Hole drummer Patty Schemel is an indication of where Kurt’s new material was headed.

This clip from the P. David Ebersole directed documentary offers a rare peek into the home life of Cobain, Love and then-infant daughter Frances Bean. Love can be seen strumming an acoustic guitar and singing a song called ‘Stinking of You,’ on which she recieves some vocal assistance from Kurt.

‘Hit So Hard’ documents Schemel’s near self-destruction at the peak of her success with Hole and also examines the explosion of the Seattle music scene in the early 90′s. The film has already begun it’s limited theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles (click here for more info) and is currently available for rental on iTunes.
