The holidays will be here before you know it and the folks behind Record Store Day are preparing for what is known in the shopping world as Black Friday. The day after Thanksgiving is typically the busiest shopping day of the year and record stores have been getting in on the shopping excess by offering a number of specialty releases that are available on Nov. 27.

Leading the pack this year for many metal fans will be the 25th anniversary edition 10" of Judas Priest's Painkiller. The run will be limited to 5500 copies, so you might want to be near the front of the line to make sure you walk away with this precious vinyl.

On the rock side, Stone Sour are continuing their covers EP series with the Straight Outta Burbank collection, featuring the band's take on songs from Bad Brains, Slayer, the Rolling Stones, Motley Crue and Iron Maiden. The cover of Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter" features guest vocals from Lzzy Hale. Look for 5000 copies of Straight Outta Burbank arriving on vinyl.

Other releases of note for Record Store Day's Black Friday promotion include The Clash's self-titled LP, Coheed and Cambria offering a 12" of The Color Before the Sun, Faith No More's We Care A Lot LP, Joan Jett's 12" Sessions, Megadeth's "The Threat Is Real" 12", Nine Inch Nails' Halo I-IV vinyl box, the Jaco Pastorius JACO documentary on DVD, Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" 12", S.O.D.'s Milk 7" and Tenacious D Live on LP.

You can also look for small run releases of Animals as Leaders' self-titled release, Damnation A.D.'s Kingdom of Lost Souls, Red Sun Rising's Polyester Zeal and The Sword's High Country.

There are also a handful of acts choosing to release music via Record Store Day vinyl first before making it available elsewhere. You'll find Behemoth's Pandemonic Incantations, Jimi Hendrix's Burning Desire and Sunn O)))'s Kannon among these releases.
