This year marks the 50th anniversary of Judas Priest and the Metal Gods gave fans in Paris, France a surprise last night (Jan. 27) when they played "Killing Machine" live for the first time since 1978.

The song is the title track to their fifth studio album, which was released in 1978 under the title Killing Machine, though it was named Hell Bent for Leather for distribution in America. Priest sandwiched the track between "Turbo Lover" and "The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)" in the set list and the performance clip can be viewed below.

While on the road last year supporting their new album, Firepower, Judas Priest unearthed some other rarities onstage. They played "Delivering the Goods" for the first time since 1980, "Bloodstone" for the first time since 1990, "Some Heads are Gonna Roll" for the first time 1991, "Tyrant" for the first time since 1983 and "Saints in Hell" for the first time ever.

It remains to be seen if any more rarities will resurface, but Rob Halford did comment that the band had big plans for a 50th anniversary celebration.

Priest will be on the road in Europe supporting Ozzy Osbourne this winter (though the first four dates of that trek have been postponed) and will return to North America in May (dates below).
