Jonah Hill Loses It For New Role
The movie is based on a 1980s Johnny Depp television show of the same name.
21 Jump Street is the headquarters for a squad of police officers who specialize in investigations relating to young people. Each of the Jump St. personnel was selected for their ability to pass for high school or college students, allowing them to operate undercover in areas where it is difficult for regular police officers to blend in unnoticed. - imdb.com
It is not yet known who or what Hill will be playing in the movie, but he set a goal to lose 30 pounds before filming began. A friend claimed that Hill started to gain weight at the beginning of the diet, but then started to slowly lose some weight. It hasn't been easy for the actor, but he's been working with a nutritionist and a trainer, so it seems like he's now on the right path. The above picture shows the difference already. He looks so much better in his suit, glasses and shorter hair. He's also healthier.
Hill was very involved in the production of the film, as he penned most of the script himself. He told PopEater.com:
It's an entirely new imagination of what '21 Jump Street' is. We're not doing a spoof whatsoever. It will be crazy characters that are in very unreal circumstances sometimes.
Jonah Hill before and after he started dieting. He kind of looks like a young Drew Carey (who also recently lost a lot of weight) don't you think? He also looks healthier, happier and more mature, which is good, considering it sounds like his role in this film will require him to grow up a little bit from his regular movie roles, which call for a young, immature and funny boy who doesn't worry about things that aren't important.
He's lost weight, but it will be interesting to see him grow in this film, figuratively of course!
